BUILDING: THINGS TO KNOW

BEFORE HIRING A CONTRACTOR: IMPORTANT (PDF Download Tips)

- Before your contractor begins ANY work at all, even excavation, please make sure you SEE the issued permit.  If you have questions about it, please contact our office. If work begins without a permit, it is the property owner who risks penalty and not the contractor.

- All structures that are greater than 120 square feet require a structure in Elbert County.

- All structures regardless of size must be anchored to the ground.

Building Setbacks: All parcels have setback requirements for structures.  The setbacks are usually based on your zoning.  Front setbacks are usually the largest and any property boundary that has road frontage is considered a "front" even if the address is on another road.
