Land Use Matrix

All Building Permits start in the Community & Development Services Office.

To Start the Building Permit Process, You MUST have the following:
  • An 11X17 site plan
      -> Must be drawn to scale
      -> Must show the distances from the proposed structure to the property lines
      (in order to determine setbacks)
  • A copy of your Deed (Copy available from the Clerk & Recorder’s Office)
  • A current Statement of Taxes (Available from the Treasurer’s Office)
  • Residential Sign-Off Sheet (obtained from our Office)

Responsibilities:
The Planning Department is responsible, through Code Enforcement, for enforcing the requirements contained in the adopted Zoning Regulations.

Code complaints should be made by mail or in person. General discussions can be received by phone at 303-621-3136.

Elbert County is "zoned and regulated." The Planning Department processes all requests to Zone, Subdivide or conduct Special Use requests on property in Elbert County. All properties in Elbert County must have appropriate zoning and/or subdivision approval, prior to development occurring or building permits being issued.
