Q. How much are the recording fees?
A. Recording fees are $11.00 for the first page, $5.00 for each additional page.
Oversize documents (larger than 8.5 x 14) including plats are $11.00 for the
first page, and $10.00 each additional page. LSP's are $20.00 per page.
documentary fee is .10 per $1000.00 on a sales price over $500.00.
Q. How much are copying fees?
A. Copy fees are .25 per page and $1.00 certification per document. Copies of
Oversized documents are $5.00 per page. Military Discharge are no charge.
The County Clerk and Recorders office cannot provide copies via email or fax.
Due to budget and staff restrictions in order to provide the best service to all our customers
we ask that you come to the Recording Office at 215 Comanche Street, Kiowa, CO 80117
to get copies or become a registered user for web access.
Q. How can I obtain a copy?
A. You can come in to our office located at 215 Comanche Street, Kiowa, CO
80117, we have public access computers. Copies can also be obtained online
if you're a registered user.
Q. What requirement do you have to record a document?
A. All documents must have a 1 inch margin on the top and bottom of page
and an 1/2 inch on the sides. Each document must have a return address.
Q. Where can I get a form?
A. An office supply store or download them off the internet.
Q. Can the clerk give legal advice?
A. Clerks can not give legal advice or assist in preparing your documents or
notarizing them.
Q. How do I add or remove a name from my property?
A. There are specific types of instruments that may be needed based on the
current status of ownership of real property, therefore we recommend that a
title company or a real estate attorney be consulted.
Q. What do I need to do to file a lien?
A. We do not know the legal process and can not advise the type of form or
how fill them out. Seek the advice of an attorney.
Q. Can I look up documents online that reside in the clerk's computer
system?
A. An online search of our records can be done by clicking on
Public Records Search.
You will only be able to view indexing. If you are a registered user
you will be able to view & print as many documents as you would like to.
Q. How much does it cost to become a registered user?
A. $50.00 per month, due in our office the last Thursday of each month for
the next month’s service or service will be interrupted.

A. You may file for a divorce or obtain a divorce decree from the Elbert County
Combined Court located at 751 Ute Street, Kiowa, CO., 80117. The number
