ELBERT COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION
ANNOUNCEMENT: Starting DECEMBER 2014 Planning Commission meetings will be held on the 1st and 3rd TUESDAYS of the month. The Planning Commission may not always meet both dates. The primary meeting will be the 3rd TUESDAY of the month. If demand warrants a meeting will also be held on the 1st TUESDAY of the month.
About the Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to hear land use cases. The Planning Commission typically makes recommendations on land use cases which are then sent to the Board of County Commissioners for a final decision. Per Colorado State Statute, the Planning Commission is charged with making and adopting the county’s Community Plans and Comprehensive Master Plan.
Makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on a wide variety of land use applications, including: rezonings; special uses; vacations; special district service plans; and subdivision plats. Makes, updates and adopts the county's Comprehensive Master Plan.
The Elbert County Planning Commission consists of nine members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year terms.
