Nonprofit Resource Directory Connects Residents to Community Services

New online tool helps those in need

A second meeting of the Neighbors Helping Neighbors group took place in mid-October to collaborate and discuss ways to support residents in Elbert County who may need a helping hand. Elbert County Commissioners and staff, alongside local nonprofits and service organizations, have been working together since May to organize resources that support the community and get the word out about available programs.

Since the first meeting in 2021, Elbert County created a resource directory of outreach services available to individuals and families looking for additional support. This easy-to-use, digital directory is intended to be a one-stop-shop listing of local service providers. At www.elbertcounty-co.gov/outreachservices, you'll find helpful information about local food banks, diaper donations, health screenings, home maintenance, financial education, veteran assistance, and more!

"Responding to the economic and social impacts of COVID-19 over the past year-and-a-half have proven we are blessed to have so many people in this County dedicating their time and effort to helping their communities," stated Commissioner Chris Richardson during the meeting. "The County hopes that these meetings provide an opportunity for all of us to understand the areas where each of us can be of service. Where there may be gaps in coverage, we can look for ways to address those specific needs. Where there may be multiple organizations providing similar services, that ensures alternate sources of assistance if one of you reaches capacity."

Nonprofits are already gearing up for the holiday season when they often see an increased demand for their services. And, the good news is, there are plenty of people and organizations eager to help. Below is a list of the organizations currently listed in the online resource directory:
