Elbert County Opposes Vaccine Mandates

Vaccine Mandate

On Wednesday, November 17, during a regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), the BOCC passed Resolution 21-39 opposing the imposition of vaccine mandates and the implementation of “vaccine passports.”

Chair Chris Richardson stated, “The BOCC has previously and regularly expressed our trust in the ability of our citizens to make sound decisions regarding their own health and safety, that of their families, and neighbors. We continue to feel it is the right of individuals to make their own personal medial decisions without interference from the government.”

Elbert County will continue to commit itself to ensuring that no citizen of Elbert County will be denied any County service or protection based on their vaccination status. Additionally, the County assures that all the vaccination status of current and future employees of Elbert County will not be considered a factor in hiring or retention decisions.

The Board of County Commissioners encourages all other local governments within Elbert County to adopt a similar public position in these matters.
