Due to staffing shortages and until further notice, Tri-County Health Department will issue birth and death certificates on behalf of Elbert County Public Health at their Greenwood Village office, 6162 S. Birth and Death Certificates

Elbert County Department of Health and Human Services issues certified copies of death certificates for all deaths that have occurred in Elbert County only, from 1908 to the current year. The State Archives Unit holds the following death record information for Elbert County:

Coroner’s Inquests 1886-1955
Death Record 1894-1907
Medical Certificate of Death 1908-1967

Birth Certificates are also issued through the office for persons born anywhere in Colorado from 1908 to the current year if they were registered. Any requests for birth information for births that occurred prior to 1908 may be registered at the State Archives Unit or the county of birth.

Proof of your relationship or direct and tangible interest is required in order to have a death or birth certificate issued to you. Applicants must submit proof of their relationship or documentation to establish their legal interest in obtaining vital records.

The Elbert County Department of Health and Human Services Office is open Monday - Thursday from 7:30am to 5:00pm.
